What will Sen. Obama Do?

A disturbing new trend has surfaced regarding the Obama tax plan. Callers from all over the country have been calling conservative talk show hosts to express the reasons why they were voting for Sen. Obama. The most prevalent answer has been that Obama will now give them health care and a check. Now, let me get this right, both callers had no job, have not had a job in some time, and apparently are not looking for one, but they are going to receive a check and free health care. Who will be paying for these perks: anyone who has a job and who pays his taxes? Then recently, Sen. Obama has tweaked his plan for umpteenth time that now includes healthcare and citizenship for illegal aliens—about 12 million of them presently in the United States.
Sen. Obama’s plan seems destined for failure on a large scale which will make the Carter Administration seem fiscally sound. Furthermore, now with the endorsement of Gen. Colin Powell, many seem assured that Obama is the man. However, Gen. Powell has ulterior motives. He felt isolated from the black community while serving as Secretary of State under George W. Bush. And, he has felt in a way dismissed by George W. Bush. So, his statement that a determining factor for him to support Obama arose from the negative campaigning done by Sen. McCain toward Sen. Obama. I find this statement completely disingenuous. He forgot to tell the American people of Sen. Obama’s recent pow-wow with the DailyKos, and the leftist, radical, nuts who operate this quasi-news outfit. Not only does the DailyKos regularly and viciously attack anyone who disagrees with them, but being with them legitimizes their venomous rhetoric. I guess this is just an extension of what Sen. Obama wants to do with other radical world leaders. Sir, being liked is not enough to lead a nation like ours. I would rather be hated, feared, but respected, than loved, admired, and ultimately screwed by the rest of the world. When the first problems arise, will he go to the United Nations and try to get things resolved peacefully with no results, or will he stand up against our enemies, and respond decisively. Will Sen. Obama become a mistress to Fidel Castro, Kim Jong-Il, Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin, or even Mahmoud Amadinejad? His past assertions to meet with these rogue leaders, without preconditions, are frankly alarming.

With the impending prospectus of a liberal super majority in Congress and in the White House is far more perilous than the one we experienced under the Carter administration. American must be cognizant of its choices and the long-term implications of an Obama administration. Sen. Obama is a socialist; just read his book for yourself. His connections to William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, and other questionable individuals preclude him from serving as Commander-in-Chief.

Wake up and smell the coffee

The plot thickens; it turns out that Sen. Obama is more entrenched with William Ayers than previously believed. In fact, while a member of the Illinois State Senate, then state senator Obama wrote a blurb for one of Dr. Ayers’ books, praising him for his work for the juvenile justice system and public education. Compound that revelation with his admission that, while attending college, he listened to Marxist lectures leads me to believe that something is not right.

Too bad the American people are not actively engaging this candidate. As previously mentioned, Sen. Obama is a phantom, a ghost if you will. His entire college career has been sealed by Columbia and Harvard. His associations with Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Franklin Raines, and others are disturbing. In addition, we now have him on video expressing his redistribution of capital idea to Joe the plumber. Lastly, we now see Joe Biden expressing his true beliefs in a taped interview. For those who have not heard the Biden sound bite, Sen. Biden believes that a terror attack on the United States in an Obama administration is imminent. National security is income security. Remember 9/11 and the collapse of the stock market. We overcame this fiasco with resounding resolve. I fear an Obama administration will deeply weaken our national security; his ideology is compatible with Jimmy Carter. Those who are old enough to have lived through the Carter administration will remember 22% interest rates, a deep recession, concessions to the Ayatollah Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution, and camping out to get gasoline. Ah yes; those were the days!

I friend of mine always said: “wake up and smell the coffee.” Well folks, we need to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee. A socialist president, a socialist Congress, and the prospectus of an impending liberal Supreme Court are not healthy scenarios for the American people. The principle of checks and balances will be but a passing afterthought in an Obama administration. This nation is dramatically shifting to the left before our very eyes. I never thought this would be possible after Ronald Reagan, but here we are. We must never forget what George Washington once said: “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and to humbly implore his protection and favor….”

Gen. Powell and Obama

Colin Powell just announced that he will be supporting Barack Obama. Gen. Powell is a well-respected statesman in American politics. Nevertheless, his decision should not be a complete surprise to anyone in the GOP. As early as 2007, Gen. Powell intimated that Barack Obama would be an important, historic figure in American politics.

The question is: was Gen. Powell’s decision motivated by race? The answer is quite clear. Powell, a republican and former Secretary of State, has never backed any liberal candidate for elective office. Now, out of the blue, he is willing to support the most liberal senator in the United States Senate, and whose economic plan is predicated on redistribution of capital. Would Gen. Powell have endorsed Obama if he were white? Absolutely not! It seems that many African-Americans are voting for Obama because of his ethnicity. Although Sen. Obama continually courts the white vote, his agenda is extremely clear. He regularly attended Dr. Jeremiah Wright’s church—a black liberation theologian—for over 20 years, but never once heard him speak anything derogatory about white people. This is extremely difficult to believe.

When Rush Limbaugh mentioned this possibility a couple of days ago on his daily radio show, he was vilified by the media. The media has neglected its duty in vetting the candidates equally. It is no accident that the mainstream media is pulling for an Obama victory. Tom Brokaw recently said that the question of William Ayers never came up during the presidential debate. Let me get this one straight, there were 6,000,000 questions submitted to NBC, and not one question mentioned Dr. Ayers, the weather underground, or Jeremiah Wright?

Sen. McCain has a long distinguished record of service to his country. Sen. Obama has a dubious record at best. Regardless of the eventual outcome, one must remember the consequences of this election. If Sen. Obama becomes president, expect higher taxes, more government, more socialism, and worse yet, an agenda that mirrors a left-wing, radical Congress. The checks and balances stipulated by the constitution would be non-existent. This is a worse case scenario. If Sen. McCain were to win the election, then he would be the balance needed to effectively run government through this financial crisis. He is for smaller government, lower taxes, more corporate investments, and a healthy military. Although the economy is extremely fragile, we need to understand that this has happened before in our history, and our economy will rebound out of this mess. Unfortunately, the administration in power is often blamed for any economic meltdown. The housing mess has been brewing for some time. It is no one’s fault in particular, but both parties are culpable. But like anything else, the economy is resilient, and we will be able to bounce back from it.

The State of Conservatism

The state of conservatism is in disarray. The fundamentals put forth by Ronald Reagan are collapsing. At a staggering 35%, the United States has the second largest corporate tax rate in the world next to Japan. What does this mean to the average American? The trend for many years has been for companies to move their headquarters overseas and outsource jobs. Liberal pundits are quick to point out that Americans continue to lose jobs, and that corporations are becoming greedier than ever before. While there is some merit to this stipulation, let me raise some points for discussion.

I am against CEO's of major corporations receiving obscene amounts of money when the companies they head have been run into the ground. These crooks should be sentenced to life in prison. If more of these indivduals receive harsh criminal penalties, perhaps future CEO's would abstain from this type of illicit behavior. Nevertheless, it is clear that corporations exist to make money for their employees and their stockholders. Why not make corporate taxes competitive with the rest of the industrialized world? How can this be achieved? Eliminate the Internal Revenue Service altogether, or simply adopt a fair tax nationally. The present tax code has over 66,000 pages, and it is impossible for anyone to know every point. Because no one really knows or understands fully the present tax code, the fair tax seems a viable alternative to taxation as it presently stands.

Another stipulation that has to be discussed is job creation. For one to obtain a good-paying job, one must possess a marketable skill, obtain a college degree, or procure a trade. Some liberals have pointed out that migrant workers perform jobs that ordinary Americans won't do. My answer to this argument is: why won't Americans perform any type of work? If an individual is uneducated and does not possess a marketable skill, then what can they expect to do? In Miami-Dade County, migrant workers arrive in Homestead every year to pick fruits and vegetables. Why won't Americans fill these jobs? Isn't a job a job, and isn't every job honorable? So, let me understand this concept correctly, liberals would rather see an unskilled laborer receive entitlements instead of a real job. This type of reasoning is un-American and dangerous to our democracy. The Welfare system of economics, instituted by Lyndon Baines Johnson as a temporary means to allow individuals to get on their feet, has a 43-year record of failure. President Clinton tried to reform it in the 1990's, but much more needs to be done. McCain's plan to use community colleges as a bridge to a skilled labor force has its merits. Good paying jobs are not minimum wage jobs; minimum wage jobs should be left to teenagers and not working adults.

Lastly, coming from a communist country, I am well aware of the dangers of this failed economic system. Redistribution of working capital is not the answer to our present economic woes. Lowering taxes on all citizens and companies, in addition to regulating intelligently the banking industry and Wall Street should be the priority of the incoming administration. I have been hearing political speeches and observing politicians since the 1960's, and Senator Obama is the most gifted politician I have seen hands down. He is bright, articulate, calculating, and poised. Nevertheless, I believe that he is the least transparent candidate in American political history. No one really knows anything about his time in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather, his time at Columbia and Harvard University, or his life in general before he entered Chicago politics. Those, to me, are clear red flags. Don't misunderstand me, I am not a huge McCain fan, but certainly, he is a better alternative to Senator Obama. Hopefully, Americans will look past historical precedents, and look at this election cycle objectively; look at the candidates and their respective records. Vote your conscience and your head, not a polished veneer.
